A Conversation with Bob Berkebile, FAIA

In cooperation with
the Tennessee
Department of Environment and Conservation, the Civic
Design Center is honored to host Bob Berkebile, FAIA,
distinguished architect, environmentalist and preservationist, for
a special lunch time Urban Design Forum. This Forum is in conjunction
with Mr. Berkebile’s visit to Nashville as keynote speaker at
the Green
Development: Good for Water and the Bottom Line Conference.
The Forum will begin with a 20 minute presentation by Design Director TK Davis
on what has been happening in Metro Nashville during the past year which is
consistent with the Ten Principles of the Plan, with an emphasis on projects
and initiatives that exemplify social, environmental and economic sustainability.
This presentation will stimulate a conversation between Forum participants
with Mr Berkebile on how, by combining design and leadership skills, new approaches
to holistic, integrated community building can be achieved in Nashville and
elsewhere.
Mr. Berkebile will have an opportunity to discuss how his career has utilized “education,
historic preservation, quality housing, mental health and public safety, and
neighborhood conservation as tools to restore social, economic and environmental
vitality.”
Members of the audience are welcome and encouraged to bring lunch with them
for this event.
