THE
CUMBERLAND REGION TOMORROW
QUALITY GROWTH TOOLBOX Project
Thursday,
January 18, 2007, 5:30 – 7:30p.m.
At the Nashville Civic Design Center
138 Second Avenue North, Suite 106
Last month, before a well-attended and enthusiastic audience at Vanderbilt
University, Cumberland
Region Tomorrow (CRT) rolled out its Quality
Growth Toolbox, a publication resource that will assist communities
throughout its 10 county region-- and beyond-- to produce future
quality growth that will be participatory, multi-disciplinary,
and holistic in its thinking.
This Urban Design Forum, which will be led by Dr. Bridget Jones, Executive
Director of Cumberland Region Tomorrow, will provide an opportunity
for Urban Design Forum members to learn about and comment on the Toolbox
and its application. Ed Cole of TDOT, Rick Bernhardt of Metro Planning,
and Fleming Smith Jr. of Looney Ricks Kiss will also share their insights
as leaders and creators of the Toolbox document. In addition, Dr. Jones
and panel members will describe several exciting new partnership projects
that will assist our region’s communities with comprehensive
planning, community design, and other facets of quality growth implementation
through the new CRT Quality Growth Institute.
The Civic Design Center
has agreed to partner with the CRT Quality Growth Institute to be a
training center, to offer technical assistance, and to be a facilitator
of public participation in community assessment, visioning, and design
workshops.
