The
Potential for Workforce Housing in Downtown Nashville

The Downtown Partnership’s
Workforce Housing Task Force)
The Urban
Land Institute defines Workforce Housing as affordable dwellings intended for those
with an income from 60% - 120% of median income within a defined context,
often characterized as nurses and teachers, police and firemen...
This is a timely and emerging topic in Downtown Nashville, indeed
all of Metro, as an unmet market need. Recent polling by Zogby
indicates
that 63% of Americans believe providing affordable housing in their
community is very important, yet this concern is almost completely
missing from
the presidential campaign discussion.
Please join us for a brainstorming workshop to address four questions:
-
What positive
factors or incentives now exist to promote the development of Workforce
Housing
in Downtown Nashville?
- What negative
factors or counter-incentives now exist to hinder the development
of
Workforce Housing in Downtown Nashville?
- What significant
opportunities now exist, or could
emerge in Downtown Nashville, to develop Workforce Housing?
- What problems
now exist, or could emerge in Downtown Nashville, to halt the development
of Workforce Housing?
