THE WESTIN
HOTEL TOWER PROPOSAL FOR LOWER BROADWAY
WEDNESDAY,
July 12, 5:30 p.m.- 7:00 p.m.

Please join us for an Urban Design Forum to address the recently unveiled
Westin Hotel and Condominium Tower, a 19-story structure proposed
for Lower Broadway in the District. The project is currently being
evaluated by a Metro Development and Housing Agency (MDHA) Design
Review Committee, and public feedback on the project will be very
timely.
As the design currently stands, it will require a special exception in
order to proceed. While the proposal does have supporters, questions
have been raised in the MDHA Design Review meetings, and in the media,
as to the appropriateness of its height, its immediate proximity to designated
historic building, and its impact on the character of Lower Broadway.
Representatives from the development and design team of Barber Group
Inc., Sage Hospitality Resources, Inc, and JG Johnson Architects will
present the design in order to answer questions and take comments of
their proposal. The Barber Group is based in Arkansas, while Sage
Hospitality Resources and JG Johnson are based in Denver.
Please note the atypical day of the week (Wednesday) for this month’s
Urban Design Forum.
