The Nashville Civic Design Center invites the public and members of the
media to attend this month’s Urban Design Forum on Thursday, November
17, 2005 from 5:15 – 7:00 p.m. The topic — Reconnecting to
Our River: Learning from Chattanooga — will focus on the recent
transformation of Chattanooga’s Riverfront. Guest speaker Karen
Hundt of Chattanooga’s Planning and Design Studio will discuss
the scope of Chattanooga’s $120 million project, the public-private
connection that helped make it happen and how the project was completed
in just 36 months.
Nashville is currently engaged in a riverfront redevelopment planning
process that will rely on public input to produce a riverfront master
plan. Attendees will learn more about that process and how they
can participate in the public meetings scheduled for December 3, 5 and
8 by attending the Urban Design Forum on November 17.
