For those that might have missed the recent “An Evening with WiIliam McDonough” event at Vanderbilt University, or for those who would like to learn and discuss his ideas further, the October Urban Design Forum will screen The Next Industrial Revolution. Following the film, audience discussion will be led by a distinguished panel representing the fields of environmentalism, ethics, science, and philosophy.

The Next Industrial Revolution tells the story of the movement led by architect Bill McDonough and chemist Michael Braungart to bring together ecology and human design. Shot in Europe and the United States, the film explores how businesses are transforming themselves to work with nature and enhance profitability. This is an invitation to a revolution-- with the ideas and the people who are transforming the relationship between commerce and nature.

“His utopianism is grounded in a unified philosophy that-- in demonstrable and practical ways-- is changing the design of the world.”
