The
GSA Design Excellence Program: September's Urban Design Forum will feature the first public display of Michael Graves' design for the new Federal Courthouse in Nashville.
Patrick Burke of the Graves' office will present this project, which will be discussed in the context of the Government Services Administration celebrated Design Excellence Program. To reverse more than a half century of largely uninspiring and poor quality federal buildings, GSA's Design Excellence Program was initiated in 1994 to change the course of federal architecture and once again provide quality federal buildings that are not merely functional, butr valued and cherished additions to their community. The Forum feature the video "Of Our Time: Changing the Course of Federal Architecture," a brief look at the history and accomlishments of the Design Excellence Program told through the voices and works of some of the architects responsible for its success.
