2009 marks the fifth anniversary of The Plan of Nashville and the 100-year anniversary of The Plan of Chicago.

The day featured a seminar with special guest, Suzanne Malec-McKenna, Commissioner of Chicago's Department of Environment.

A celebratory reception and announcement of the winners of the NCDC’s Visionary Award immediately followed the seminar. The entire event  focused on sustainability and its relationship to civic design.
