Simon Ungers: In Tribute


In March 2006, Simon Ungers died in Cologne, Germany. The son of Oswald Matthias and Liselotte Ungers, Simon came to the United States with his family in 1969. He graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Architecture in 1980.

His work is best represented in the monograph Simon Ungers, by Henry Ubach and Gustau G. Galfetti, GG Editorial Gustavo Gili; 1998 (from which the exhibition plates have been taken).

Ungers taught at Syracuse University, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Harvard University, the University of Maryland, Cornell University, and the University of Tennessee. His thinking and creative production was an inspiration to innumerable students and colleagues with whom he had contact.
