NASHVILLE– February 2, 2010 –Julia Fry Landstreet joins the Nashville Civic Design Center (NCDC) as interim executive director.

Julia’s role with the Center includes oversight of the administrative and development functions for the organization, as well as cultivating relationships within the design, development and civic communities.  She will work closely with the Center’s Design Director, Gary Gaston, in coordinating the organization’s two monthly programs, CityThink and the Urban Design Forum.

In addition to her current position, Landstreet serves as president of the board for Friends of Warner Parks and on the board of the Garden Club of Nashville.  Since 2006 she has operated a construction consulting business that specializes in “green” applications. Prior to that, she served as commissioner and vice mayor of the city of Belle Meade, overseeing the reconstruction of city hall and spearheading efforts for new zoning codes.

“Julia has a real enthusiasm and understanding of the profound impact the NCDC mission has on the greater good of the city. This coupled with a knowledge of the challenges of the built environment in an urban setting and extensive organizational skills and experience with non profits make her a great addition to the Civic Design Center team,” said Mercedes Jones, NCDC board chair. Landstreet earned a bachelor’s of arts degree from Sarah Lawrence College in New York and attended Franklin College in Switzerland.
