The students’ premise is that this 1,100 car ten story garage could intensify its contribution to the city as urban architecture, and as a part of the new Deaderick Street improvements now evolving, through transformative new mixed use development.  In this light, the students are proposing up to ten stories of new residential liner buildings on the east and west setbacks of the block, up to three additional stories of light construction on top of the garage—with each assuming a different program-- as well as new commercial uses for the ground levels of the building to intensify sidewalk activity, and new façade treatments on the north and south flanks of the garage.
