The Nashville Civic Design Center taught a Winterim course at Harpeth Hall called "Urban Design for Nashville and the World." After learning about urban design strategies both locally and globally, the students applied their knowledge to a transit hub in Green Hills on the corner of Abbott Martin Road and Bandywood Drive. Nashville's MTA/RTA Strategic Plan has identified this area as a potential transit hub to help fulfill Nashville's growing transit needs. In addition to bus bays and ticket sales, the students designed the transit hub to be a mixed use center that addressed the neighborhood's need for affordable housing and better walkability. The students presented their designs to MTA and the Alliance for Green Hills as a way to receive feedback, and advocate for their ideas.
