Nashville contains a wide variety of neighborhoods that share many attributes, but also have unique challenges and opportunities. February's Urban Design Forum will: examine policy and design strategies for improving the health of Nashville's neighborhoods; discuss the importance of community involvement in development as Nashville continues to grow; and feature several recent projects along Jefferson Street in North Nashville. Nashville Civic Design Center (NCDC) will also unveil an exciting new neighborhood placemaking* project as a part of the program!

We're working with Urban Green Lab, Second Harvest Farms To Families and Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency to promote and celebrate growing, cooking, eating and preserving healthy, delicious local food in a series of workshops taking place monthly across the seasons to allow folks to jump in at any time! Tour the former Dollar General Store on 5th Avenue which was recently purchased and will be revamped by Fresh Hospitality. The building will host a new Tom Morales restaurant concept on the first floor and office space on the upper floors. The building has a storied history marked by student sit-ins and nonviolent protests to end racial segregations in the 1960s. Come see this important historic building transformed!
