Strategic Partners

Our cross-sector partners work alongside us on specific projects and programs to expand the reach of our mission where they cannot do so alone.

ACADEMIC

Our organization was founded with two strong institutions behind us—The University of Tennessee Knoxville and Vanderbilt University. To this day, we still engage in collective thought leadership and mentorship. We also support the pipeline from middle school to higher education across industries.

CORPORATE

Our corporate partnerships are always mutually beneficial. Corporate initiatives that need direct input from the community are uplifted by having our organization as a partner. They help amplify our efforts so that national, and even global audiences can be engaged in the work we do together.

NON-PROFIT

Many non-profits focus on a single issue to deepen education and engagement around their unique expertise. As a broad systems focused non-profit that aims to tackle the intersection between many issues affecting our built environment, we often partner with non-profits to amplify the good work they already do. Together, we can make a collective impact towards quality of life improvements.

GOVERNMENT

In the community planning and design industry, we cannot make any longterm change without government buy-in. We are proud to have the support of many Metro departments, and we often work together on community engagement, ideation, implementation and more. We also have formed and continue to form relationships with local council members to amplify community needs.

Media Partners

One of our founders, Christine Kreyling, used to be a well-known design critic with the Nashville Scene. Christine was always in-tune with what was happening in Nashville, but more than just sharing news, she was a major advocate for appropriate urban development for a growing city. Once the Civic Design Center began our work, she alongside the team to author The Plan of Nashville, and co-author Shaping the Healthy Community.

The Nashville Scene has long been a supporter of design discourse, and we are currently working together to bring more design conversations to the forefront of local news.

Through our partnerships,we bring thought-provoking ideas to the private and public sectors
