PechaKucha Vol. 52: LIGHT

  • FSA Lighting 618 Grassmere Park Nashville, TN, 37211 United States (map)

Light is all-encompassing. It influences our moods and even our very perception of the world around us. We begin each day with the dawning of sunlight. Photographers, filmmakers, and artists use light to illuminate space and to convey emotions. Architects and interior designers use light to influence the way we feel in a space. Light even organizes the way we move around cities in the form of traffic lights. Despite the many roles that light plays in our lives, it can be easy to take it for granted.

Join us for PechaKucha Volume 52 where you will see 8 lightning talks under 7 minutes each that will discuss light and all of its power. Presenters will cover a range of topics such as artistic uses of lighting for photography, effects of color temperature on our emotions, the nitty-gritty details of traffic lighting, and even how we can use light for precise measurements and modeling with LiDAR technology.

About PechaKucha

Drawing its name from the Japanese term for the sound of "chit chat", PechaKucha rests on a presentation format that is based on a simple idea: 20 images x 20 seconds. It's a format that makes presentations concise, and keeps things moving at a rapid pace.

PechaKucha Night was devised in Tokyo in February 2003 as an event for young designers to meet, network, and show their work in public. It grew into a massive celebration, with events happening in hundreds of cities around the world, inspiring creatives worldwide. The Civic Design Center is the Nashville host.
