Prior to joining the Civic Design Center, Kayla served as an Executive Assistant at Nashville Public Television (NPT). While at NPT, Kayla had the opportunity to work as a production assistant on the Facing North: Jefferson Street, Nashville documentary, which was nominated for a 36th Midsouth Regional Emmy Awards. She also contributed to the Facing North Collage Tour and The Black Church Mapping interactive digital projects which won the Public Media Award in the Content/Use of Digital Media category.

A native of Russellville, KY., Kayla moved to Nashville to attend Tennessee State University where she earned a degree in Communications. She loves spending time with her family, and friends and loves to travel and explore. Kayla is excited to join the Civic Design Center team and to learn more about civic design. One of Kayla’s ultimate goals is to invest in her hometown, particularly the historic Black Bottom community, and to make it a place that people would like to visit who are unfamiliar with the community.
