The Civic Design Center was proud to partner with Mars Petcare on two grant programs in 2023.  One for cities and nonprofits, and one for dog-friendly workplaces of all sizes and types.

In 2024, the BETTER CITIES FOR PETS™ Grant Program for Cities application period will be announced by June 1, 2024.

2024 BETTER CITIES FOR PETS™ GRANTS

The BETTER CITIES FOR PETS™ program hosts applications for 2024 grants to cities or their designated nonprofit partner in their efforts to help keep people and pets together and make pets more welcome in their city.

Five grants of $20,000 each will be awarded supporting initiatives based in shelters, communities, public spaces, or city-wide business programs in alignment with the BETTER CITIES FOR PETS 12 Traits of Pet-Friendly Cities. Each awarded city will also receive up to $2,000 in consultation services from Civic Design Center to help enhance their programs.

Mars Petcare’s BETTER CITIES FOR PETS program has awarded over half a million dollars in grants to support pet-friendly initiatives since its inception in 2017. Learn more about previously awarded city programs here.

The grant application period will close on Friday, August 16th, 2024 at 11:59pm EDT.

2023 CESAR® Workplace Grants

Mars Petcare’s CESAR® brand is launching Workplace Grants, powered by the BETTER CITIES FOR PETS™ program, designed to help businesses make simple changes to welcome dogs into their offices, or to further enhance their current pet-friendly offerings.

Building on insights from Mars Petcare’s BETTER CITIES FOR PETS™ program, the CESAR brand aims to help dog-friendly workplaces obtain amenities, dog-friendly design, effective pets-at-work policies and more.

Applicants will apply for one of two amounts ($2,500 or $5,000) to establish new dog-friendly workplace programs or enhance or expand existing programs. Each awarded business will also receive additional in-kind support from the CESAR brand, Mars Petcare and Civic Design Center to help enhance their program.

The grant application period closed on Friday, August 11, 2023 at 11:59pm EDT.
