Shuangwen is a Design Education Fellow at the Civic Design Center and a full-time Landscape Architect at Catalyst Design Group. She received her bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. During her time in school, she participated a semester study abroad program at University of Copenhagen in Denmark, which allowed her to travel throughout Europe and learn how design impacts human wellness and lifestyle across different cultures and environments. Shuangwen’s capstone project envisioned a healing public space for a local community in Hartford City, Indiana that has been suffering from environmental injustice.

She is a B-girl (Breakdancer), her dance background and her interest of the birth of Hip-Hop culture through the lens of design and planning embraced her passion and advocacy for design justice. Shuangwen is currently involved in Design Your Neighborhood program assisting youth designers with design tools such as SketchUp to better envision their work in their communities. She hopes to help youth raise awareness of design justice and equity.
